Vice Provost Transition Update

June 29, 2017

I am pleased to announce that I have appointed Maggie Towle to serve as interim vice provost for student affairs and dean of students, effective July 6. Maggie is currently the University's associate vice provost for student life and director of student unions and activities; she has served in student affairs managerial positions on the Twin Cities campus for over three decades. Her broad experience, relationships, and knowledge of the University will provide leadership continuity during the transitional period that will follow Danita Brown Young's departure from the University to become vice chancellor at the University of Illinois.

Maggie will work collaboratively with the leadership team in the Office for Student Affairs to steward the OSA's many programs supporting student success and well-being. She will serve through the completion of a national search for a permanent vice provost, which I plan to launch in the fall.
