The University of Minnesota is closely monitoring the emerging public health concern involving the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). See below for updated information regarding mental health resources.
Mental Health Services
Boynton continues to provide urgent, in-person mental health services to students. Most visits are being provided via Zoom. To contact the mental health clinic, please call 612-624-1444.
Student Counseling Services (SCS) has started offering video/phone support for emotional and mental health needs of students currently in Minnesota. Current SCS clients who are physically in the state are able to schedule video/phone appointments with their counselor by contacting us via email or phone. We are working to establish procedures for helping students who are not current SCS clients determine whether a video/phone service will be right for them, and get connected to a counselor.
Academic coaching appointments can be scheduled with Student Academic Success Services directly by emailing: email@example.com or through our main counseling email address. Students do not need to be physically in Minnesota to participate in academic coaching. Students can email our reception staff at the general email address for more information: firstname.lastname@example.org. The SCS website will also be regularly updated.
Remote Mental Health Services
To access confidential online cognitive behavioral therapy, visit the Learn to Live website (enter code "UMN").
Due to licensing restrictions on providing remote therapy across state lines, we are restricted in what we can offer to students currently located outside of Minnesota. We continue to monitor emerging federal legislation which may remove this barrier. For the latest updates, visit the Boynton Mental Health website.
Boynton will provide telehealth counseling and psychiatric treatment for students who are located within Minnesota. Appointments can be scheduled by calling the clinic at 612-624-1444. Students who are currently in care can contact their providers via the MyBoynton portal.
Students on other forms of health insurance (non-Boynton) and/or located outside of Minnesota are encouraged to contact their insurance company for local resources. They can also email the Care Program at email@example.com or reach out to Boynton for help identifying local resources.
